Graduation XX

 Ep. 22

Karawaci, Tangerang, Indonesia.
 3rd December 2011.

“You are educated.  Your certification is in your degree.  You may think of it as the ticket to the good life.  Let me ask you to think of an alternative.  Think of it as your ticket to change the world.” - Tom Brokaw.
Me and parents
After 4 long years of mountainous assignments and exams, events, on-job training, and torturous final projects, I finally stand on the day I will be graduated as a Bachelor of Applied Science. As I have been mentioned before, I enrolled to Pelita Harapan School of Hospitality and Tourism in 2007 majoring in Hotel Management. Together with my 15 classmates, we’ve been through all of the events, engraved our memories in our heart altogether in 4 years.

Housekeeping class
I was assigned to be in the D Class, which consists of me and other 15 students. We started as a stranger, introduced ourselves one to another and as I looked back now, it was like sort of destiny for us to be united in that very classroom. Our group of 16 are (I try to do it according to our absence list):

1.     Gitta Lestari
2.     Aileen Grace Mary
3.     Clement Mathias
4.     Meliantha Tanuwijaya
5.     Marlene Kurniawan
6.     Shella (Me)
7.     Anastasia Casella
8.     Rosiana
9.     Jessica Elizabeth Kamarga
10.  Grace Marcella
11.  Hans Jonathan
12.  Ivana Yunita
13.  Raymond Noverianto Setiawan
14.  Selvy Lie
15.  Edwin Alexander
16.  Angelyne
ready to be inaugurated
Sometimes you just have a family out of your home, and for me D Class is pretty much one of a kind. I don’t have any idea how we can get along quite nicely (can’t say it smooth though) for four years. Many things that we encountered during the time frame. Let me do some recollection of my memories.
Batch of 2007
Year 1: All of the food production practices that we also do our Pastry display, food production individual exams and so much more. Year 2 : All the bartending classes and the housekeeping practices that we almost questioned ourselves are we a servant or what? Year 3: our dining project with all of the hardships and hard works, and of course our 6 month on job training (where 8 of us ended up in the same place). Year 4: we finally ended up still holding each other up for the final project and shared our stressful day until the very end.

Silly pose...silly pose...
Lots of memories that we did shared. All the friendships value, all the quarrels, conflicts, laugh and tears (not to forget some of the love stories). All of the funs that we had with the lecturers. All the trips that we took together and of course 101 way to pass the exams. And finally we stands there still the same 16 of us, just a little bit older (questioned the maturity rate), and still the same. That day is our commencement to the future. Even I have moved to HK, all of D members still keep in touch with me, they even keep me updated regarding the graduation ceremony and encourage me to attend. So Rosi helped me with my Grad attire and all of them were just so nice to keep one another updated.

Customized Cupcakes topping
We arrived at the very same campus (even the very same Grand Chapel), where we start our first day as freshmen. This time we attended the Chapel with our head held high, parents beside us and proud to wear the graduation attire. Some of us grade well that we got the golden beaded graduation hat (me too!), but the bottom line is, we’re just happy to be altogether there again, share the pas months that we apart and keep updating one another. The ceremony was like the other normal ceremony (read: boring and drowsing), what keeps us awake is the chit chat among us about recently happen stuffs (read: gossips). I brought some cup cakes; I asked my cousin’s help to customize the toping of the cupcake to become a little each of us, D Class.

Now, we've added some more character behind our last name, we have greater responsibilities on our shoulder. Keep our radar on and antenna up, ladies and gentlemen. Even after we graduated, what we’ve been through together will definitely last deep down there inside our heart. Thank you D! See you at the top!
Yippie Yay!
