O...saka

Ep.11

And my first operating flight is....

KIX- Kansai, Osaka
Welcome to Kansai
And it is the time for my very first operating flight. I finally start my version of traveling the globe. My feeling at that time?? A very very mixed up one. As I was the only most junior crew at that time. Trying to back tracking all the safety and emergency procedures. Trying to remember all that i have learnt from the training school. Super nervous to even meet up and have no idea how to blend into the whole flying team. Well I guess it is one of the most indescribable feelings in my 22 years of existence on earth.

All about Osaka.
I packed my overnight bag. Full of the very crucial standard loadings. Make ups, clothes, shoes, PA handbook, even all the grooming guidelines and the service standard guidelines (which I never bring along anymore after a month flying. They're sooo heavy and space consuming). Checked everything and re-checked it again and again.

Lucky for me that I got my classmate as a flying buddy on this flight, Janny. But this was her second flight already. I also have another classmate that will arrived at Osaka from the flight before. And we promised to meet each other at the hotel as soon as we arrived (it was nice to see familiar faces in an unfamiliar places).

Bridge to Hotel from Airport

The flight was smooth sailing. Well, I can't say that it was a great success of me on this flight as I haven't familiar yet with the whole service and galley packing (what to do and where to find. It was different from training school and reality..), the pace and how to do it smart to make it even faster or efficient. And I finally got it that "all you need is experiences and you'll get better from time to time".. The seniors gave inputs, tips, trick, and how things are going. Share their own experiences and let me know which points that I have to work on and which I should keep up (what a bout the keep down part?). At this point, I really try to become like spongebob, who absorbs every single little information that it heard (like a thirsty kid craving for cold coca cola...well that's a bit hyperbolism) hahaha. In approximately 3.5-4 hours we've finally arrived in Kansai International Airport. I was just like a villager that finally able to see the world outside the wall. I was like want to take a picture here and there. But first thing first. Check into the hotel and get some Yen!
Janny, Kay and Me along with our dinner
I saw Kay was waiting for me and Janny in the lobby just when we step into the hotel (the hotel was connecting to the airport though). 10 minutes after checked in, I was standing there, along with Janny and Kay, ready to hit and explore the airport (can’t hold my ass down even for a bit). It was already at 9 pm, and most of the stores has been closed. But we’re still going though. To take some pictures and see what we can buy for our dinner (read: something to munch during our little late night chat, we promised to chat in my room after exploration). So, we took some pictures, buy our dinner at Lawson, the only convenient store that still open (I found it is very useful of my Japanese language course that I can identify the item and match them with the label price). We proceed to my room, ate and chat, share some of our previous flight, and so happy to see each other that we promised to do some more exploration next morning before our departure back to HK ( it was only 11 hour stay in Kansai, so I let you count the time we spent for resting).

Munching my Salmon Onigiri
On 6 am the next morning, we were ready to rumble the airport again (me and Janny in uniform already, saying to the ISM that we will find our way to the aircraft by our own and Kay is still have another few hours before her departure). Kansai airport is not as big as Hong Kong’s, but it was really Japan-all-you-want-we-got-it type of airport. I went to Lawson to buy an Onigiri worth of 110 yen and milk to start up my day. Proceed to level 3 of the airport, shopped at Daisho all-100 yen shop, and bought some souvenirs for those back home. It seems that magically our body do not need any rest at all. I always realize that I am a kind of person that never ever get tired for traveling and come on! this is my maiden flight and my first time to step my feet in Japan. A country that I adore so much (thanks to Sailormoon, Cardcaptor Sakura, Samurai X, etc. that I even learn the language). After strolling for more than an hour or so, me and Janny bid farewell to Kay and proceed to our aircraft, back to work. My first stay in Kansai might be short, but it was a beautiful one.

O- kokeshi da~~
“How gracious is He, that he made all my dreams come true one by one, and keep amazed me on how He successfully made me realized that for what I believe, when I prayed to  Him, He will answer it, might be not right away, but definitely He will answer. He might be just too busy with others requests.” – Me.
